This is a view looking forward in the Crew's Berthing area.

The crew's quarters originally contained bunks for 36 of the crew of 80. They are arranged in four rows of 9, with a small cross passage just aft of the forward set of bunks. Lockers for personal belongings were located in the bulkheads, as well as in some of the bunks. A medical locker is located here as well. The lights were usually kept low or off in this space, since part of the crew was usually trying to sleep.

Ventilation ducts in the overhead provide air conditioning for the compartment. There are also ducts for hydrogen gas leading to the engine rooms. When the batteries were charged, they generated hydrogen, which must be removed from the battery well to prevent explosion. The ducts lead to the engine rooms and direct the hydrogen gas into the engine intakes, where it is burned as part of the combustion process when the engines are running.
