The Radio Room on Torsk is located just aft of the Control Room, on the port side of the boat. Located here are the transmitters and receivers used for all communications, both by voice and in Morse code. Cryptographic equipment was also located here for encoding and decoding secret transmissions. Typically, two men would be on duty here at any one time.

The equipment in this space today represents some of what would have normally been there. When Torsk was decommissioned in 1968, the majority of the equipment was removed for use on other vessels.  The Torsk Volunteer Association has been acquiring and reinstalling the missing equipment.

Torsk's radio room is still in use today. Her active duty call sign was NKST - today she is on the air with the call NK3ST, the closest we can get to her original call under current FCC rules. The radio gang participates in several special events throughout the year, including the annual Submarine Memorial Radio Room Reactivation held every April.
