USS Torsk (SS-423)
Drawing and text by Elizabeth Boriszek
USS Torsk continues to serve not as an active unit of today's sub force but as a vital link to the past legacy of America's proud submarine service.
She is host to visitors from near and abroad - young and old, veteran, active duty and civilian.
She symbolizes the bravery of those who fought in WWII's subforce.
She memorializes those still on patrol, giving their lives for freedom.
She along with the other "Baltimore Maritime Musuem" vessels gives the visitor a different perspective of history.
"As a volunteer aboard USS Torsk I've gained satisfaction, a feeling of doing a worthy task to preserve history and a feeling like I am an important part to keep alive the proud Naval Submarine Legacy."
