USS Sailfish SS-572

Dave Thames and Mike Eacho working on Sailfish's bridge. Parts from the alarm contact makers were removed, among other things.

The Bubble!!

The top image shows Torsk's original plexiglass "bubble" in the raised position in 1967. The bubble was removed at some point and has been missing for years. When Dave got to the bridge on Sailfish, he saw that her bubble was still in place, retracted (as seen in the second image). Dave called Gilbert, who pulled up a plan of the bubble on his computer, and they compared measurements. The dimensions matched almost exactly, so the decision was made to take the bubble for Torsk. What a great (and unexpected) find!!

Below decks, quite a lot of the equipment was missing in areas such as the dive station in the Control Room. Other areas that contained electronics were surprisingly complete. This is a view of part of the ECM stack, from which several pieces were removed for Torsk.
