USS Torsk Work Weekend III

May 28-31, 1999

Sunday Morning Memorial Service

A memorial service and tolling of the bell was held on Sunday morning to remember the lost boats and men who gave their lives in the service of their country. Guns directed the service, as Skibo and Doc tolled the bell. A musician from the Naval Academy Band was present to play Taps at the close of the ceremony.

The ceremony was held topside forward, since the deck aft was not complete. Our crew lined the starboard rail, as Guns spoke from the port side. The bell was at the front edge of the sail, with the flag flying at half mast from a halyard attached to the #2 scope.
