USS Trout Torpedo Skid Removal and Storage

On Friday, June 22 several Torsk volunteers gathered in Philly to finish several days of parts removal from USS Trout. The final goal for this Friday was removal of the BQR-2B sonar console and several torpedo skids, using a rented crane.

The first item to come topside through the forward torpedo loading hatch was the BQR-2B sonar console. The front panel was removed ahead of time to enable the cosole to fit through the water tight doors below, as well as the hatches topside.

Bruce is reattaching the front panel to the sonar console.
The console was loaded into Gilbert's truck for delivery to Joe Roche's house in Delaware, where our sonar gang will gather to work on it at a later date.

Time for the torpedo skids!
Bruce, Deer John and one of the crane crew guide the first of six torpedo skids up through the torpedo loading hatch.
